Finally the “watch” portion of Overwatch has some meaning! Spectators flocked to watch the opening weekend for Blizzard’s new Overwatch League. The commentary was great, the teams are talented, and some games were close, others were more lopsided. And Week 2 is happening soon. Jake and Brian watched a lot of the Overwatch League, and Chase watches a lot of football, so the guys discuss sports of the “e” variety on this weeks episode.
We also had a lot of new happening this week. We discuss the reemergence of the Xbox Duke controller, the donation total for Awesome Games Done Quick 2018, and some exciting announcements coming out of Nintendo’s pre-recorded press conference.
I really enjoyed the Overwatch League despite my gripes with Overwatch as a video game. But the matches did a good job of getting me excited about playing Overwatch again. I am not very good, and usually stick to being a big harry ape (Winston) and running around the map. Or I like playing as Torbjörn, I am really good with the turrets. I am still undecided on my favorite team, but after watching a number of games I am leaning towards the New York Excelsior. Although, I do not like referring to them as an Office product. The number of times the announcers referred to the team as the Excel, was too high.
Plus they are off to a blazing 2-0 start! Next week they take on the LA Valiant and the LA Gladiators. I am actually excited to watch sports.

And there you have it. Next week will take more Overwatch League, Chase’s favorite esports team, and Ian’s favorite dish at Applebee’s.
Spoon Deep wants to be a driving force in the games industry. Each week we deliver a podcast that goes after the deep discussions and critical analysis of the video game industry. Hopefully, by talking about and discussing some of these key issues we can enlighten you about some of the things going on in the industry, as well as give our unique spin.
We hope each episode can highlight some of the great things happening in the industry, along with shining a light on some of the more negative aspects in the hope that things can change going forward
