All the Release Dates from the Nintendo Direct Mini 1.11.18

After playing a long game of paddy cake, Nintendo finally had a Nintendo Direct.  Albeit a Mini one with no prior warning.  This 15 minute presentation was packed with new games, downloadable content and release dates for the first half of 2018.  There were plenty of things to get excited for, especially if you never owned a Wii U.  Here are the announcements from yesterday morning’s Nintendo Direct Mini.

Watch the video first to see all of the new videos from games coming soon to the Nintendo Switch.  Don’t worry I took notes during the show and compiled a list of all the juicy details below.

Nintendo Direct Mini 1.11.2018

  • The World Ends With You -Final Remix- for Nintendo Switch available sometime in 2018.
  • Pokken Tournament DX for Nintendo Switch DLC Battle Pack.  Wave 1 features Aegislash available 1.31.  Wave 2 features Blastoise available 3.23.
  • Kirby Star Allies for Nintendo Switch available March, 16.
  • Kirby Battle Royale Demo for 3DS available now.
  • Dragon Quest Builders Demo for Nintendo Switch available now.
  • Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch available Spring 2018.  Includes all DLC from both 3DS and Wii U versions.
  • Mario Tennis Aces for Nintendo Switch available Spring 2018.  Includes a robust single player story mode.
  • Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana for Nintendo Switch available Summer 2018.
  • Super Mario Odyssey‘s new online competitive mode, Luigi’s Balloon World available February 2018.
  • SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy for Nintendo Switch available Summer 2018.
  • ACA NEOGEO Art of Fighting 2 for Nintendo Switch available today.
  • Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle for Nintendo Switch new character Donkey Kong and mission downloadable content available Spring 2018.
  • Payday 2 for Nintendo Switch available February 27, includes online multiplayer.
  • Fe for Nintendo Switch available February 16.
  • Celeste for Nintendo Switch available January 25.
  • Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for Nintendo Switch available May 4, inlcudes Funky Kong!
  • Dark Souls: Remastered for Nintendo Switch available May 25.

If Nintendo considers this a “mini” Direct with 15 games announcements, I wonder what they are saving for a regular Direct.  We knew that downloadable content was probably coming to Pokken and Mario + Rabbids, but we did not know about all these remasters.  And Mario Tennis Aces is worthy of it’s own announcement.  Especially coming off the success of Golf Story, which is fantastic by they way.

Prior to these announcements the early Spring and Winter 2018 were looking fairly slim in terms of game releases.  But Nintendo has filled the void and continues to make the Nintendo Switch a valuable addition to any gaming library.

Oh and here’s a link to an article from a week ago where I mention that Dark Souls would be awesome on the Nintendo Switch.  Thanks for reading the blog Nintendo.  Maybe we will get PUBG next.

Which game announcement has you most excited?
