The Best Weapons in Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 was nominated for The Spoon Deep Golden Spoon Game of the Year even though Ian, Brian, Chase, and I had never played it.  However, I played a lot of Splatoon 2 yesterday and Brian played even more Splatoon this weekend and now here is a list of the best weapons in Splatoon 2.

Splattershot Jr.

Don’t confuse this weapon with the Splattershot, they are different weapons.  The Splattershot Jr. happens to be the first weapon you receive in the game and it is one of the best.  The ink coverage is excellent and it has huge ammo reserves so you can quickly fill in the blank spots on the map for your team.  Brian would say “Don’t forget the corners.”  Brian has used this gun or some of its upgrades almost exclusively during his time with the game and he is often the top player on any team!

Because the Splattershot Jr. has such great spread, you can gain points for you team and quickly take back territory at the end of a match  in order to clutch out a win. The Splattershot has a more focused stream, which limits its capacity for ground coverage.  The Splattershot also seems to use ammo much faster than the Jr, further limiting it’s potential.

Aerospray

Unlocked at level 6, the Aerospray MG is a fantastic choice for any match of Splatoon 2.  The gun has an extremely high rate of fire and a high spread.  The range is a little less than the Splattershot Jr., but the firing rate is higher.  The shots are also a little bit weaker, it takes five hits to splat an opponent with this weapon.  However, the weapon fires so fast that you can usually get five shots off before they react.

The gun excels because of its high spread.  Players can quickly cover turf and hit opponents with precision aiming.  The MG version of the gun also  comes with the Curling Bomb Launcher, which can quickly cover turf and force opponents to retreat quickly. The special charges extra fast because you can build up points from covering turf quickly. It would not be unheard of for you to get three or four Curling Bombs during one match.

Brian and I are just starting to learn the intricacies of Splatoon 2 and will be jumping into Ranked Mode shortly.  Once Ian and Chase pick up their Nintendo Switch console we will all jump into League Play.

Which weapon do you enjoy using in Splatoon 2?
