15 The Spoon Deep Podcast about the Golden Spoon Award (Game of the Year 2017)

Episode 15 is now live and we wrap up our Game of the Year discussion and name our winner of the Golden Spoon Award!  Don’t worry, if you enjoyed the reverb from last episode it is back, and remixed to perfection.  Listen for what might be our best gaming discussion yet!

We had a lot to talk about this week, but we were finally able to conclude our Game of the Year discussion and discuss some of 2017’s best gaming moments.

Jake, Brian, and Ian come together for a special recap on the past few months.  We discuss the best multiplayer gaming experience of the year, including some discussion on a local Mario Kart 8 Deluxe battle the three of us had earlier this summer.  Chase was invited as always.  We look back towards some of our favorite memories from 2016, and reminisce about what a great game Gwent, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt was.  Can you believe that game came out in 2015?  We also talk about some of our most anticipated games coming (hopefully) in 2018.  Sea of Thieves may be among the competitors for the Golden Spoon Award next year.

Before announced our Game of the Year, we talk a lot about Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite Battle Royale.  We talked about it enough to get us all pretty excited to play and I am downloading Fortnite Battle Royale as I write.  Look for some Spoon Deep impressions later this week and find out whether or not we are able to be a winner winner chicken dinner.

You’ll have to listen to find out which game was awarded the coveted Golden Spoon Award.  Remember the nominees from last week were:

  • Splatoon 2 by Nintendo
  • Super Mario Odyssey by Nintendo
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild by Nintendo
  • Call of Duty: WWII by Activision

Regardless of the the specific game of the year we can all agree that Nintendo provided an amazing year for games.  The Nintendo Switch platform is truly a special piece of hardware with multiple fantastic pieces of software.  If you don’t already have one, the entire Spoon Deep crew highly recommends it.

Finally, we forgot to mention that The Game Awards hosted by Geoff Keighley will air live on Thursday, December 7th, 2017 beginning at 8:30 EST.  Tune in on your favorite streaming platform including, twitch.tv, YouTube, twitter, Facebook Live, Steam, PlayStation Store, Xbox Live, mixer, IGN, and Gamespot.  The event will also feature previews from some upcoming games, including Fortnite, Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, and Sea of Thieves.  Make sure to tune in and find out which game is awarded Game of the Year.

We hope that you love listening to the podcast as much as we love creating it, we will see you next week.

Spoon Deep wants to be a driving force in the games industry.  Each week we deliver a podcast that goes after the deep discussions and critical analysis of the video game industry.  Hopefully, by talking about and discussing some of these key issues we can  enlighten you about some of the things going on in the industry, as well as give our unique spin.

We hope each episode can highlight some of the great things happening in the industry, along with shining a light on some of the more negative aspects in the hope that things can change going forward.
