How to Get the First Curse in Destiny: The Taken King – Gunsmith Rank 5

The First Curse has finally been revealed in Destiny: The Taken King and it comes from the Gunsmith.  Banshee-44 holds many secrets, but he has revealed another one as Guardians continue to increase ranks.  We already know that Gunsmith Rank 2 unlocks a class specific legendary special weapon and Rank 3 unlocks a class specific exotic primary weapon.  We now know that Gunsmith Rank 5 unlocks a quest that rewards the First Curse.

The Lore behind The First Curse is closely related to the Last Word.  In fact many of the Last Word and Thorn grimoire cards make mention of some other hand cannon that came before.  Specifically Jaren Ward, the original owner of The Last Word and Dredgen Yor, the original owner of Thorn.  The First Curse will likely have some more lore and reveal more about the story of Destiny.

Once you reach Rank 5 the Quest is as follows.

Step 1: The Right Word

  • Get Hand Cannon kills with a Primary of Hand Cannon Telemetry active

Step 2: Speak to Banshee-44

Step 3: Waiting on Tex

  • Wait for the next Armsday

Step 4: Speak to Banshee-44

Step 5: Weapon Skills

  • Infuse the weapon, get 7 killing sprees, and go on a precision kill spree in the Crucible.

Step 6: Speak to Banshee-44

Step 7: Expanded Vocabulary

  • Wait for the next Armsday

Step 8: Speak to Banshee-44

The First Curse will take awhile to get, because you need to wait for two Armsdays in order to receive it from Banshee-44.  Hopefully, the gun will be well worth the wait.

In the meantime keep ranking up that Gunsmith!

THE FIRST CURSE GRIMOIRE

People always forget about the other one  The first one, They remember its twin, the Last Word, because that’s an easier story to tell. But it’s not the whole story.

Truth is, there were two of ’em, back in the lawless days before the City was anything more than a rumor.  There are thousands of tales of the fate of The First Curse, which one will you tell?
